Reading is super important to us in my family. As a kid, I loved reading through series like The Babysitter’s Club and couldn’t wait for the next one to come out. I love that all 3 of my kids (14, 11 & 5) all love to read and love heading to the library to check out books. My 11 year old daughter has requested a Kindle for Christmas because of how much she loves to read. I love it when the kids find a book series that they fall in love with. We were asked to read & review a series called Travels with Gannon and Wyatt. Travels with Gannon and Wyatt is a middle-grade adventure series written by Patti Wheeler and Keith Hemstreet. Gannon & Wyatt are 15-year-old twin brothers that travel the world and take you along for the ride. There are 3 books in the series: Botswana (released May 2013), Great Bear Rainforest (released October 2013) & Egypt (to be released January 2014). My daughter read the series & her favorite book was Travels with Gannon and Wyatt: Great Bear Rainforest. In the front of each of the books is a map, showing kids the part of the world that Gannon & Wyatt are traveling to, plus there is also a list of common phrases translated from that part of the world. I personally love that there are real pictures in the book, showing the landscape, animals, landmarks and more. The books are written as journal entries by both Gannon & Wyatt. My daughter liked that it went back and forth between the two boys, telling about things from their own points of view. All three of these books are a great way to spark a child’s interest in traveling & exploring other parts of the world. Seeing it through the eyes of kids that are close to their own age makes it more real.
To find out more about these wonderful books, head on over & visit their site. You can also find out more on Facebook & Twitter. Three Kindle Fires are being given away on the Travels with Gannon and Wyatt Facebook page in November so don’t forget to check that out! I am happy to let you all know that I get to give away the Travels with Gannon and Wyatt series (all three books valued at a total of $38.85). Enter below on the Rafflecopter & good luck!
