Reading is a really important part of my family’s life. When my older kids (15 & 11) weren’t able to read on their own when they were younger, I would read to them every night. Then, when they could read on their own, my husband and I made a rule that every school night, they had to read for about 30 minutes. At first they didn’t like that we were “forcing” them to read but after a while, most nights they were begging for extra time to finish reading the chapter they were on. With so many kids having phones, devices, gaming consoles & more (my own kids included), I believe that now it’s even more important to show them how important reading is and how much fun it can be!
