Last Thursday night, I got the opportunity to go to the VIP Grand Opening party for the brand new The Land of Nod store that is now open at South Coast Plaza. Prior to going, I got to write about creating my fantasy grey & yellow bedroom for my 5-year-old son. Knowing that I would be able to see all the furniture, bedding & storage bins in person, made me VERY happy!
Since I got to bring a guest with me, I asked my 10-year-old daughter if she wanted to come. She was so excited and couldn’t wait. I knew that even though almost every one there was going to be an adult, she’d still have a lot of fun. We left San Diego and headed up to Orange County. Now, if you’re not from Orange County, you tend to forget that the traffic there sucks! The part of San Diego I’m in, we don’t have a ton of traffic but having been up to Orange County more & more lately, I knew we had to leave early. We did and we made it a Girl’s Night Out, stopping first to get dinner and then heading over to South Coast Plaza for The Land of Nod VIP Grand Opening.
The store looked amazing. It was even more bright, fun and colorful than I expected. It was so great to see the items in person that I had already been drooling over online. There were lots of little bedroom areas set up with details down to runs and display things on shelves.
I don’t know why I didn’t take any pictures of the food that they served. Unfortunately, my daughter and I had just eaten before we arrived but the food that I did taste was awesome! They served everything on really pretty trays and even had lemonade, water, and wine! Don’t worry, I didn’t drink because I was driving (well, that and I’m allergic and if I drink, my big body would be asleep on one of the little beds!)
I wanted to get each of my 3 kids a little something from The Land of Nod. I chose 2 dolls (Suzy Q & JoJo), a doll for my 5-year-old son (Skip) and a “J” pillow for my oldest son. It wasn’t that easy finding something that a 14 year old would like and appreciate but we did good because he really does like his pillow for his bed.
All on all, it was a great Grand Opening and I am so happy that Ashlyn and I got to go! As you can see from the photos below (sorry! I had to post them all!), we had a great time with friends and taking pictures in the fun photo booth area! Now it’s your turn…head on over to The Land of Nod’s site and check out all the great things they have to make your kid’s rooms (or yours!) adorable. If you’re in the Southern CA area, head on over and check out The Land of Nod in person at South Coast Plaza (3333 Bristol St., Costa Mesa, CA 92626). You can also find out more info about The Land of Nod on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest and Instagram.

Cute photos and a great girls’ experience. I think you picked well with the pillow for your oldest. That seems like it would be a great mix of color and trend for a teenagers room. Love how well lit and brightly colored the store is. It’s geared in a way good for parents to shop and kids to delight in.
Tara says
Aww, thanks Sherry! We had a great time!
