I have seen ads and other blog posts for The Honest Company but I honestly (HA! See what I did there? I made a funny!) didn’t know what sort of products they offered. So, I decided to read up on their website & see what they were all about. The Honest Company was started by actress Jessica Alba & Chris Gavigan (CEO of Healthy Child Healthy World), who are both parents themselves. They realized how hard it was to find products for your family that don’t have chemicals in them, that were eco-friendly AND affordable. So, they decided to make their own company.
Until recently, I haven’t really thought too much about what kind of chemicals are in our cleaning products, soap we use or the diapers I used when the kids were babies. As I have gotten older, I have started thinking about it more though. This is especially true when it comes to my oldest son, Jared. He was asthma and allergies and I worry that things that we use around the house could trigger this. He’s been sick enough because of colds & everything, he doesn’t need the things I use around here to cause an attack.
I received a trial pack of the Family Essentials Bundle from The Honest Company. In my trial pack, I got Honest Laundry Detergent, Honest Shampoo & Body Wash (sweet orange vanilla), Honest Healing Balm, Honest Hand Soap (organic lemongrass) and Honest Face & Body Lotion. My favorite thing that I tried was the shampoo & body wash. I used it on my youngest son Ryan (4) and the scent of it was great. Ryan left the bath smelling great, was completely clean and I felt great knowing that no yucky chemicals touched his skin. The shampoo & body wash is hypoallergenic, tear-free and dermatologist & allergy tested.
I have the driest elbows known to man and the face & body lotion has been helping with that a lot. Since my elbows are so dry and cracked, whenever I put on perfumed lotion, they end up burning really bad and it’s worse to have that than the dry elbows! Using the Honest Face & Body Lotion has not hurt one bit and has left my elbows feeling so much better! I also tried the laundry detergent on a load of my 13 year old son’s clothes. Have you ever been around a 13 year old boy? I’m pretty sure that they are stinkier at that age than any other age. But, I figured out of all of us, his clothes needed to be washed without any chemicals so I would give it a try. His clothes came out looking clean & even though they didn’t smell perfumey, like with other detergents, his clothes smelled clean!
The Family Essentials Bundle really is a great deal. For $35.95/mo, you get to choose the 5 products you want to use for that month. If you have a baby, The Honest Company has a diapers bundle (diapers & wipes are included) as well. For $79.95/mo (Less than $20 a week!) you’ll get diapers that are 100% non-toxic, chlorine-free, sustainable, and made of plant-based materials. The wipes are biodegradable, hypoallergenic, chlorine-free & made of medical grade cloth. They also make the diapers in adorable patterns that you can choose from. Not your average disposable diaper!
By the way, there is no commitment. You can become a member, try it out & if you find that it’s not for you and your family, you can cancel at anytime.
The Honest Company was started by a mom and a dad who, like many modern parents, were increasingly worried about products made with questionable chemical ingredients. But the alternatives they found were often expensive, inaccessible, bland, or ineffective. In response to this clear need for something better, they created The Honest Company to ensure that parents (or anyone for that matter!) could easily find natural and non-toxic eco-friendly products that are beautiful, effective, and affordable. From customized product bundles to diapers and wipes to an ever-expanding line of cleaning and personal care products, you can find everything you need at Honest.com and have it delivered directly to your front door.
