Buying Christmas presents for my 7 year old son is never an easy task. He’s never been a kid that really likes toys or things that other kids would like to place with (give him a clothes hanger or a box and he’s set for hours!) He does love playing video games and loves building with blocks. Sometimes I just have to get creative and find new things that will not only be fun for him but will also bring out the creativity in him. And I’ll be honest buying holiday gifts for boys has never been my strong area!
We’ve recently discovered Qixels and have fallen in love! Qixels allows your kids to create designs with cubes that fuse together with a blast of water. These 8-bit creations can be anything that their imaginations can think up or your kids can use templates to create monsters, warriors, ninjas and much more. So, while my son is creating block-like characters just like in his favorite video game, he’s spending time being creative and not in front of a screen. It’s a win-win for both of us! With Qixels, Moose Toys has brought us the “craftstruction” category, the newest creative activity play pattern that appeals to boys, too.
I also love that these kits are affordable, too! The kits range in price from $9.99 – $19.99 and is available at mass retailers, like Target and Toys R Us. Qixels kits are for ages 5+ (but my 13 year old daughter even had a great time creating with them!) Want a demo on how Qixels work? Check out this fun tutorial video!
One of the kits we received was the Turbo Dryer. This kit lets you create a design just like you normally would but once they are done with their creation, they can lay it on the Fuser station, spray it with water and close the lid. My son had a lot of fun pressing the button and watching his creation spin around and dry in record time!
Qixels are a fun way to bring out the creativity in your child and create something that they can then play with!
