It seems like whenever we go out to eat, there is always someone not thrilled with where we are going. Usually, it’s Ashlyn (10) because she is picky, picky, picky! But there is one place we all agree on & love to go. Whenever we announce we’re going to Souplantation, you’d think we’ve said we’re going to Disneyland or something. The kids always start hooting & hollering and can’t wait.
When we first walk into the restaurant, my husband, our oldest son & I always start making a big salad. Ryan will eat a few things from the salad bar area and Ashlyn acts like we’ve asked to eat poison (Vegetables! ACK!) We do try to go early or in between lunch & dinner because our Souplantation fills up pretty quickly (but they are always so helpful with finding us a table). As soon as our trays hit the table, Ashlyn makes a beeline over to the pizza. That girl is small but she can pack away some pizza! She eats that & the sourdough bread. Pretty sure that’s it (minus dessert) but that’s ok. Ryan loves their Mac & Cheese more than anything. He will also eat fruit & pizza but he is all about the Mac & Cheese. Jared loves pretty much everything there. He loves trying all their soups & Souplantation is where he first discovered his love of Clam Chowder.
I love all the great things you can get from the salad bar, things I would never have at home or be too lazy to chop all up. I always add fun, interesting things to my salads like banana squash, kidney beans, hard-boiled eggs…YUM! I’ve had some really great soups there too, one of my favorites was an Indian Lentil soup that was excellent. Daniel loves making a giant salad & is a big fan of their chili.
By far, the favorite part of the kid’s meal (ok, mine too!) is the frozen yogurt bar! Ours always has vanilla and chocolate frozen yogurt, plus toppings like sprinkles, granola, nuts, chocolate syrup & caramel sauce.
I really love that you can go to Souplantation’s site and see what is available for that month before you even go. I think it’s great that they bring in new, fun things each month. Another great thing is if you are counting calories or are just curious about the nutritional facts. you can look them up BEFORE you go & be less tempted to sample some of the other goodies.
One of my wonderful readers is going to win 4 complimentary meal passes to Souplantation or Sweet Tomatoes (beverage is not included). Enter below on the Rafflecopter. Check out their site and make sure to sign up for Club Veg (top right hand corner). I always get coupons sent to my email. Also, check out Souplantation on Facebook & Twitter.
