If you have a daughter that’s anything like my 10-year-old Ashlyn, you’ve probably been asked a million time to paint her nails. Have you ever thought about what kinds of chemicals are in those nail polishes? It might not be a huge issue with my daughter since she’s not going to be putting her fingers in her mouth, but for little girls that want to be like Mommy and have pretty nails, the last thing you want is chemicals in her mouth.
Piggy Paint is a nail polish line that is water-based, non-toxic & eco-friendly. Piggy Paint was created by mom, Melanie Hurley. She always hated the thought of her 2 daughters putting their fingers in their mouths with traditional polishes. Hurley says, “One day, my daughter dropped a glob of her solvent-based polish onto the foam plate we were working over. Shortly after, the paint had ‘eaten’ through the plate. From that day on, I decided that any flammable substance that could cause foam to disintegrate was unacceptable for children’s fingernails.”
The result was the creation of Piggy Paint. These polishes are made in the USA with natural ingredients. They are non-flammable & don’t have all the gross chemicals of other polishes, they are hypoallergenic so everyone can enjoy them, odorless (HUGE plus in my book!) and dry fast. I love that their slogan is that Piggy Paint is “natural as mud”.
Ashlyn was VERY excited when we received the box of Piggy Paint polishes to review. I told her she could choose any color and I would paint her nails. She decided on the orange & green and we got a little bit creative with it. One foot got painted all green, the other all orange. One hand got painted all green except for one with orange & vice versa on the other hand.
With the polishes, we received the card in the picture above. We used a blow dryer like it suggested and I was pleasantly surprised how fast the polish dried. Usually, she sits around for a long time just waiting for her nails to dry. But, this took no time at all. I also really liked that the polish went on smoothly, without clumps or streaks.
Piggy Paint has a fantastic assortment of shades to choose from. I also love that they have a nail polish remover that is low odor, hypoallergenic & contains no acetone. I’m buying a bottle because I can’t stand the smell of regular nail polish removers! Can you believe that Piggy Paint even has polish for doggies??? They also have college color nail polishes. Currently, there are 14 colleges on their roster. Share your school spirit all the way down to your nails! And don’t forget that if you have a birthday party or another special occasion coming up, Piggy Paint has adorable gift sets as well.
And just so you know, 4-year-old boys like having their toes painted too haha! Ryan wanted to get in on the action & LOVES how his toes turned out too!
Piggy Paint is on the Piggy Paint website and is also available at select Walmart stores and Walmart.com. From now until April 30th, 2013, you can save 15% on your order at PiggyPaint.com, just use promo code PiggyFun at checkout. You can also find Piggy Paint on Pinterest, Facebook & Twitter.
