Prior to starting my own blog, I never had a job that brought in an income. I’ve been a SAHM since I was pregnant with my oldest son at the age of 21. My husband makes a pretty good salary as an Engineer but it seems like we’re always kind of just stuck in the same financial rut over & over again.
I don’t think either of us was taught to save money or budget money correctly. My husband came from a family with a single Mom who worked nights as a nurse’s assistant and my family was a one income family, whose philosophy on money was “It’s only money! I’ll make more!” Yes, that is a direct quote from my dad. We weren’t taught to save for a rainy day or to live within our means.
When Becky from Your Modern Family asked me if I’d like to review her ebook “Money Saving Tips for the Stay At Home Mom”, I was really excited! I’d like to say that I am someone who uses a lot of coupons to save money but really I’m not. So, I really couldn’t wait to read through the ebook and find out what tips I could use for my family.
“Money Saving Tips for the Stay At Home Mom” starts off talking about how to become a SAHM if you’re not one. This includes how to find out what you pay in bills each month, putting money in savings BEFORE you quit that job and much more. Like it says in the book, you need to find out if you can be a Stay at Home Mom before you give up your job.
Some other topics covered in this great ebook are: how to make money from home, how to save money at the grocery store & on clothes, how to get prescription medications for free, how to pay off your mortgage early & tips for buying a car. There really are so many different topics & so much to learn. Becky explains it all in a way that makes sense and is easy to follow. And this book is NOT just for Stay at Home Moms! If you’re a Working Mom, you want to save money on clothes, groceries, eating out (and much more), too! This ebook can help you to do just that.
So, where did Becky get all the knowledge for her book? She does tell you at the very beginning that she & her husband aren’t certified financial planners but that these are the tips that have worked for them. She’s been a SAHM for 7 years and prior to that, Becky got her BS in elementary education and is a certified play therapist. Not only that but everyone in her family either works in finance or knows how to shop right! There are also snippets from other people & bloggers, sharing their tips & tricks for saving money.
