Growing up, my Mom made my lunch every single day and packed it in a brown paper bag to take to school (there weren’t all the fun lunch bags & bento gear that they have now.) Every once in a while, she would write “I love you!”, “Have a great day!” or a simple heart on my napkin to remind me that she was thinking about me.
I wanted to do something similar for my youngest son who is starting 1st grade in a couple weeks. A few months back, I helped promote a giveaway for a company that I thought had a great product and couldn’t wait to get my hands on some and share them with my son in his lunch. Lunchbox Loves from Say Please are notes that you can put in a lunch box, in a backpack, taped to the mirror in the morning…anywhere you want that special someone to see a positive note from you.
Each of the Lunchbox Love cards for Kids (there are cards for teens, teachers and everyone else in your life, as well) are about the size of a business card and are two-sided. On the front of the card, there is a positive note saying things like “You’re one of my favorite people in the whole entire world”, “Treat people the way you want to be treated” or “You’re so sweet!”. On the back of each card is a joke or trivia so your kids can share the card with their friends and have a laugh at lunch.
When my son starts 1st grade in a couple weeks, I can’t wait to pack his lunch and slip one of the Lunchbox Love cards inside. Since he has social skills issues that he is working on in a special class, I am hoping that this will help him to talk to his peers and share the jokes & trivia with them.
