Cottonelle Care Routine

My youngest son was the hardest of my three to potty train. He was one of those kids that had zero interest in it at all. I tried everything but he couldn’t be bothered. Finally, the only way to get him to potty train (at 3 1/2 to 4 years old!) was a reward chart, with a Wii game as the prize (note to self: choose a smaller prize next time. He earned that in about 3 days and it was expensive!)

So, over a year later and now our issue is that he refuses to wipe himself after going to the bathroom. I can’t tell you how many times a day I hear “I went poop!” or “WIPE!” down the hallway. I was real annoyed when I learned that his teacher at school was making him wipe himself & he would do it at school but not here at home (he told me that he had never pooped at school, the little turd!)

I’ve decided to try a new routine for him and see if this works. The first thing I did was head on over to Walmart with my daughter and pick up a 24 pack of Cottonelle Clean Care toilet paper. I’m pretty sure you’ll agree that have comfy toilet paper is a must! I tried using some store brand toilet paper before…let’s just say that parts of my body were ANGRY with me!

After picking up the Cottonelle Clean Care toilet paper, I decided to try the Cottonelle Fresh Care Moist Wipes. I honestly didn’t even know that Cottonelle made wipes in a nifty little tub like that but I’ve always been a big fan of baby wipes for many different uses so I decided to grab the Cottonelle Fresh Care Moist Wipes too. I actually miss buying baby wipes because we used them for so many different things in our home. They aren’t just for baby butts! Now that I have a 5 year old that MUST learn to wipe himself better before Kindergarten starts in 2 months, these wipes are going to come in handy!

After I brought bought the toilet paper & the wipes home, I put them into the main bathroom that my youngest son uses. We talked about how he’s going to be going to Kindergarten soon and how important a clean bum is going to be. He wasn’t thrilled with me to be honest with you. But, I still showed him what to do, how to open the wipes and told him that I was still there to help him anytime. Afterwards, he let me take the picture of him you see below and I promise that that is a SMILE, even though it may not look like one!

So, here is something that is really cool! On June 28th, there was a segment on the TV show “The Talk” talking all about the Cottonelle Care Routine! The wonderful hosts (Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Obsourne, Aisha Tyler & Sheryl Underwood) shared their own care routines and the importance of staying nice and clean. Also, Walmart is having a promotion when you buy a 24 pack of Cottonelle Clean Care toilet paper, you will receive a FREE Fresh Care Dispenser (my price tag said $5.47 regular price at my Walmart so that’s a great deal!)

I have no idea why but I am laughing MY bum off at this post. I guess it’s just because we can all relate to the need to keep our bums clean. Well, that and because potty humor tends to reign supreme in our household. I’m guessing it’ll be even funnier when we do have a kid.

Haha, let’s just say, Ryan is still not happy with the thought of wiping himself. It’s a work in progress (and potty humor *IS* funny!)

My son was the same way! I honestly think it was just because he wanted me to wipe him. If it was just him and daddy at home he would wipe his behind himself and not complain about it. Every once in a while he’ll ask me to wipe it, yes he’s 8 now, but I have to give him a talk and he finally wipes it himself.
