My 12-year-old daughter loves doing crafts of any kind. She is always asking to head over to the craft store and spend an hour walking up and down all the aisles looking at all the supplies and deciding what she wants to make. Every holiday & birthday, she asks for craft supplies and I love that about her. She definitely did not get the creative gene from her mother! But, I love that she knows what she loves and has found great ways to express herself through art.
For Christmas, I’ve been thinking about what to get her that will be fun and also let her show off her creative, artistic side. Two DIY craft kits for kids that she’s been loving lately are Knit’s Cool™ & Text Cool™ made by Cool Brands. Both kits allow your child to show off their creative abilities and make fun, fashionable accessories. My daughter has been wanting to learn to knit, so she was very excited to check both of these out.
Knit’s Cool is a new tool that lets you knit something fun, in a very simple way. I have to admit that I tried knitting before and I could not get the knitting needles to do what I needed them to do. But with Knot’s Cool, there aren’t any knitting needles at all! With Knit’s Cool, you can design scarves, headbands, hats, purses and more. There are even videos that your kids can watch to, if that makes it easier for them to learn how to make new creations.
Text Cool is another new favorite craft item that my daughter loves. It lets you make a fashion statement with fun, customizable bracelets. My daughter did the one above and she says it’s from Harry Potter (I’ll have to take her word for it!). With so many different colored bracelets to choose from, your child will be able to make bracelets for every outfit or share them with their friends. Text Cool lets you create with over 60 letters and emoticons and with 35 different bracelets for you to design and it’s available at Target, Walmart, Amazon and Toys R’ Us.
