Eating together as a family has always been really important to me. We did it growing up with my family and I like doing it here with my kids. With sports, youth group at church and all other sorts of activities, it’s not always possible but we do make it a priority.
One thing that I’ve had to do to make this happen is to find meals that are easy to make with ingredients that I have on hand all the time. This really cuts down on eating too late or giving in and driving to the nearest drive thru. Being able to reach in the pantry and freezer for ingredients to make my family a great meal, where we can also sit and talk about our day, is a huge relief and something I always look forward to.
One ingredient I always have on hand is Ragu®. Trusted since 1937, it’s a brand that I grew up eating and a brand I still feed to my kids. With no artificial flavors or colors & no high fructose corn syrup, I feel good serving it to my family! And with so many flavors, everything from Traditional to Sundried Tomato & Sweet Basil, you’ll find a perfect accompaniment to any meal.
While I love being able to use Ragu® in a cheesy, yummy pasta dish, I have 2 kids that don’t like eating pasta at all. I know…who doesn’t love pasta? Apparently, I gave birth to 2 of the people in the world who don’t. While I still make pasta, I like having other options as well and one of the things that’s easy to put together and tastes great. Here in our house, we love making simple Meat Ball Subs for dinner. It doesn’t get much easier than heating up frozen Italian meatballs in a pan with a jar of Ragu® mixed together (about 20 minutes), place on top of toasted sub rolls, add a couple slices of mozzarella cheese and pop them under the broiler for a minute or two to get the cheese all melted and delicious! Of course, if you’re more adventurous than I am, you can certainly make your own meatballs but I’m not the world’s best cook so I always grab a bag from the grocery stores frozen section.
What also helps my family and I have more time together is how easy it is to run into my local Kroger’s store (here in San Diego, we have Ralphs, but this is true for all of the Kroger stores: Dillons, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, King Soopers, Kroger, Ralphs and Smith’s), grab the ingredients I need, a jar of Ragu® and hurry home to make a delicious dinner and have time to talk to my family about what the did at school, how they enjoyed their time with friends, what board game we’re playing on Family Game Night and so many other fun things!
Head on over to the Ragu® site to learn about all the wonderful flavors they carry and to find a lot of recipes that your family is sure to love!
