Do you look at the items in your home & ever wonder if they’re safe? Are they made with toxins that you might not even know about? When Kristen Conn, Co-Founder of Mighty Nest, had her first child, she and her husband learned about all the potentially harmful chemicals in the products they wanted to buy. But, as they started looking all over the web, they realized not only was it hard to find products without these chemicals, it was also very time consuming.
Mighty Nest was born after years of doing research on how & where to find products that didn’t have harmful chemicals in them but it also became a place where parents can come to do research on their own and also buy healthy products all in one place. Every thing they sell is free of know toxic ingredients like BPA, PVC, Phthalates, Lead, Melamine, Formaldehyde, Flame retardants, Parabens and more.
Reading Mighty Nest’s pledge really tells you a lot about the company. Not only do they make sure that the products don’t have all that yucky stuff listed above, they also make sure to interview all the manufacturer, not only about the things that are going into their products but also about their manufacturing processes and how they conduct their safety testing.
You might go to Mighty Nest and want to look at 15 different types of can openers to find the right one. Don’t be discouraged when you only see one or two can openers in their store (and I’m just using can opener as an example!) Mighty Nest narrows down the products to the ones that fit the best (safe, nontoxic) so that you don’t have to spend a ton of time shopping, but know that you are getting something safe.
I personally have bought stainless steel measuring cups, spoons & coffee measures from Mighty Nest. My 5 year old son wears a very comfortable pair of organic pajamas that I bought at Mighty Nest. (He’s wearing them in the pictures of him with his backpack). From natural baby products to water bottles or arts & crafts, Mighty Nest has pretty much anything you could need for your house, home & family.
We got to check out the Alexander the Robot backpack from Beatrix. Ryan will be using this backpack every day when he starts Kindergarten in late August. This backpack is extremely durable (unlike his last backpack that ripped after 5 months of use in preschool!) and is PVC Free, Phthalate Free and Lead Free. The colored parts of the backpack are made from cotton canvas and the grey parts are made from nylon that is spun from recycled and shredded water bottles. Ryan is extremely excited to have a big boy backpack & I feel happy knowing that his backpack is safe & durable!

Very cute backpack and pjs! I absolutely love the fact that the backpack is lead free. I can’t believe there backpacks out there that are not. Why put kids at risk? Thanks for posting 🙂

I know! I would never think that a backpack would NOT be safe!
