When it comes down to preschool there is a huge debate about whether or not there is value in preschool. As a K-6 licensed teacher, I can tell you that there is a lot of value in early education. Let me share some of my opinions.
Kids are Absorbent
There is just something about teaching a young child that is a miracle in itself. If you ever listen to what a child has to say on a daily basis, it’s amazing. They repeat the things they hear and see but they turn it into something only a small child can say.
Learning is Important
No matter what age your child is, learning is important. I think that kids need to have a good basis for school and preschool is that perfect solution. I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to offer your child preschool. For some families, preschooling at home is the road they take. Whichever route you take, you’re the parent and are capable of making those decisions.
Preschool is Fun
My three year old gets so excited about waking up and going to school. There is a lot of value in preschool because kids feel special, valued, and challenged. Every human likes to feel challenged but also valued— so that’s why I believe my three years old appreciates preschool so much.
Preschool is Realistic
Waking up one day and heading to kindergarten for a full day can be scary. I believe that preschool is that perfect mixture to help a student get prepared for all day kindergarten. You can think of it as a way for your child to make a transition to all day kindergarten.
Everyone has a different experience when it comes to preschool, some good and some bad. Just remember that whether you choose to homeschool or send your child to preschool, you’re making the best decision for your family.
